Comment : The Créoula is the last of the Portuguese luggers to have sailed the coasts of Newfoundland to fish for cod. Its reinforced stem to sail in frozen seas bears testimony to a life of hard labour. Converted in 1979 to a training ship, the Créoula today takes on board the cadets of Portuguese fishing academies and the Portuguese merchant navy.
